Company: juvenile Catoprion mento (Wimple Piranha) can be kept with other hardy species. Adult specimens are best kept in a species aquarium since they will eat scales and sometimes eyes from other fish.

Aquarium setup: Catoprion mento (Wimple Piranha) should be kept in an aquarium with dark bottom substrate and plenty of hiding spaces. The aquarium should have densely planted areas as well as open areas. Use floating plants to dim the light. Keep the aquarium clean and well circulated. These fishes are very susceptible to stress and it is therefore important to give them the right conditions and thereby minimize the stress elements your Catoprion mento (Wimple Piranha) are exposed to.
