Global distribution

The Largemouth bass has, as earlier mentioned,  been introduced to many other countries around the world and is established in several areas.  The species has almost always been introduced intentionally.  Often to promote local sportfishing but there are also some cases when fishermen have introduced them illegally into new waters.  The species is highly predatory and can do a lot of damage in the areas where it is introduced. It is despite this often a welcome addition since it is such a popular game fish.  Similar to how the peacock bass is a very popular sportfish in Florida and the southern US despite being a highly predatory invasive species that compete with native species.
