Origin: Java Barbs (Barbonymus gonionotus) are seen throughout the Mekon river basin in Asia, as well as in Sumatra and Java.
Temperament: Not overly aggressive but they will eat fish small enough to fit in their mouths if they can catch them. Should be kept in a school of at least 6.
Company: Barbonymus gonionotus is best kept with other large fish of similar size and temperment, like Oscars, Labeo species, and other large barbs.
