Pomeranian

The Pomeranian is a small dog belonging to the spitz family. In many countries, it is known as the Zwergspitz or Toy German Spitz. The name Pomeranian is derived from the region Pomerania which is located in northern Europe. It can trace its ancestry back to sled dogs used in Lapland and on Greenland. According to the American Kennel Club standard, a Pomeranian should weigh 3-7 lb (1.4 to 3.2 kg). This makes is a very small dog compared to the other northern breeds. The head of the Pomeranian dog is shaped like a wedge which gives the dog a fox like appearance. The ears are set high and so is the tail.
