Basset Hound Resources
The Basset Hound is famous for its remarkable tracking ability and its sense of smell is second only to that of the Bloodhound. It is a friendly breed that usually gets around well with fellow dogs, other animals and children. It comes as no surprise that this breed is a tremendously popular family dog all over the world.
If you need to leave your dog alone for any longer period of time during the dsay, the Basset Hound is not the ideal breed for you since this breed does not handle abandonment and isolation well. Sometimes getting a second dog will make the time without you more bearable for the Basset Hound, but it will not always solve the problem. A Basset Hound that feels abandoned can start howling and might not stop until you come back.
The extremely long ears for which the Basset Hound is famous must be regularly cared for, otherwise ear infections can develop. The eyes are also prone to health problems since they easily dry out and become irritated. Before you get a Basset Hound, it is a good idea to learn more about how to care for it in order to keep it happy and healthy.
