I bought a new pleco the other day for my 5 gal and I was told I bought an Auto...Something or other pleco.
Is this a type of pleco?

maybe auto is short for something else, but if not, then i don't think it is. Just becareful because most plecos get big and need 10g+ tanks.

auto? maybe otto cat. Its like a mini mini pleco. noone would recommend a pleco for a tank under 30g, so i think its a otto cat

yep! thats a otto cat, not related to plecos. Ottos stay that size and are herbivorous and eat alot of algae, and will die without it. theyre great for cleaning up algae-fied tanks

This tank is infront of a window, and has a lot of spots on the glass...he'll find those right? Will the betta hurt him?

yep, the sunlight will give him algae to graze on. If theres a algae shortage, you can buy algae wafers.

The betta may or may not like him, its 100% on the bettas personality. The betta in my 20g planted will bug new fish for 2 hours as an "initiation", then he leaves them alone, while the betta in my 5g just attacks everything

Perhaps it was an Ancistrus Plecostomus rather than auto pleco.

Um, cocoa, Otocinclus are loricariads, thus are related to all 750 species of SA suckermouth catfish.
