Ok, so i am really falling amazed with the golden barbs. Could i get a school of them and keep them in a 20 gallon. Yes no, if not what about cherry barbs. I just really like the gold barbs better.

Afraid 20 gallon would be too small for them. Sorry.

Wait for another opinion here. Perhaps someone will think a 20 is OK for 5 of them. I am not one of our MANY experts, you know. :)

It is high.

That's not enough swimming room for them then. Barbs are quite active fish. Cherry barbs stay smaller and would be a better option.

Can someone help me stock a planted 55 gallon. I am going to have an angelfish and a pearl gourami in this. I would like some smaller fish like these barbs. How many could i do?

You could do 10-12 or so of the gold barbs in a 55g.

What else would i be able to put in there. I want it to become a schooling tank of tetras and barbs and stuff. The biggest things i have are the angel and pearl gourami. I already have schools of cories also.

What else you can put in there depend on your stocking numbers. Most tetras will be compatible. Cories are fine as well.

Just joking with you. I have never had these fish before so didn't think it was up to me to answer that question so just passed it on to someone who would know for sure.

So, could anyone name so some fish that i could stick in with these gold barbs. Like previously stated i have a pearl gourami and an angelfish that is very very calm to base around. I want to turn this into a schooling tank of like a whole bunch of different types of schooling fish. Can you all help me out? Thanks. Along with the names put the number of fish i can take into my tank. PS it is cycled.

I would not attempt to turn any 20 gallon tank into a tank of many species of fish and that tank is too small for an angelfish. I would also put no Barbs ever with an angelfish. The fins of an angel are just too appealing to Barbs. Angels are slow moving fish and like a calm and peaceful setting. They do not like fast moving fish around them.

I changed it to a 55 gallon fish tank.
