The script on that page is not working

Any reason we are remaking this again?

Working for me.

Other users are reporting it not working as well

I already confirmed its not an IE vs Firefox problem, my first thought

10-07-2009, 05:40 PM
Works for me!

It could be a Java Script problem.

10-07-2009, 05:42 PM
working here on my firefox. For those who it doesn't work, can always try the ole clear the cache and perhaps cookies to see if that is causing a problem.

10-07-2009, 05:45 PM
It loaded up no problem for me.
I am still using Yahoo! lol

If someone does have a problem, my guess would be updating Java?

Negative on cookies, negative on updates

Im pretty puzzled, usually I am the helper in these situations, not the helpee. lol

Did we remake this again for a reason?

10-07-2009, 06:33 PM
well i got in there but nobodys home

10-07-2009, 06:45 PM
I tried it. It lags and I don't like the format.

10-07-2009, 06:47 PM
I won't use it, not fond of chats of any kind anyways, so I suppose I'm biased. It appears to be working for me, though.

10-07-2009, 07:08 PM
Hmm It havent lagged during the trials but I appriciating all the reports. It is currently using a trial version of the script. If it doesnt work it is better to go for something else.

If the script doesnt work it is with 99% security a java runtime problem on your computer.

The reason we need a new chat is because the creators moved on and we therefore no longer have mod access. Another problem is that there are no logs in the old one which makes moderating hard if a mod isnt in when the problem occur.

Kingfisher: whats the problem with the format?

10-07-2009, 07:11 PM
Works fine for me. :fish:

10-07-2009, 07:24 PM
The new chat does not work for me either.

10-07-2009, 07:31 PM
i like it... how do you change your screenname?

10-07-2009, 07:37 PM
log out and in again using a different name. Or register a new account

10-07-2009, 07:48 PM
I love it. And it works.

10-07-2009, 08:04 PM
Worked for me, I like it :-)

10-07-2009, 10:13 PM

I checked my java and I have java 6, update 15. Mine updates by itself so stays current but others may need to update.

I've tried the chat a couple times and it works fine on this end.

10-07-2009, 11:45 PM
I just played with it again...s'all good!

10-08-2009, 01:49 AM
Works fine for me in firefox. Though at the moment the new chat is empty, we're all in the old one.

10-08-2009, 03:16 AM
Is this chat logged?

10-08-2009, 03:18 AM
It is logged but only admins can view logs and logs will only be viewed if complaints are made that are serious enough to warrant it.

10-08-2009, 03:19 AM
Good luck with it, then.

10-08-2009, 03:20 AM
I am guessing you dont like that it is logged?

10-08-2009, 03:21 AM
I'll reply in pm.

10-08-2009, 03:22 AM
Ok. Opinions about the new chat are welcome here or in a PM

10-08-2009, 11:22 AM
Is there a way to embed pics and video in the chatroom yet?

10-08-2009, 12:07 PM
cant get in it say java chat software do I need to down load that??

10-08-2009, 12:55 PM
I'm not cool with being logged either even if it can be viewed by admins

Speaking of which, who are the admins? It should be pubicly disclosed

10-08-2009, 04:18 PM
The admins will be made available on the chat. There are still work to be done with it but I wanted comments before I did anything else and so far the reactions seems mainly negative so .....

Logs are unfortunately a necessity in a more official chat like this due to the number of complaints we get even due to the unofficial chat.

10-08-2009, 04:25 PM
People will complain regardless of the outcome. Ppl complain about an unofficial chat, and people will complain about an official chat.

There is no winning lol

I appreciate your continuous efforts to make everyone happy William, i really do.

I personally just don't think a chat with a log history is appropriate, and if the official one retains, i'll stay in the unofficial one.
I also don't think the two have to be mutually exclusive - we can have both and people can chose whichever they are most comfortable in

I agree with Rob, unless it is too much of a hassle I don't see why two chats wouldn't work. If people don't like the chat log of the "official" chat then they can come to the "unofficial" chat with the understanding that it is not affiliated with the forum and they have no right to drag any complaints about the "unofficial" chat to you or any of the mods here. If they do so we can simply ban them from unofficial chat if necessary (to decrease your workload).

10-08-2009, 04:49 PM
Each chat could have its own stipulations and let people pick which they are most comfortable with.

AC Chat would be logged - beef/drama can and should be dealt with. If you come here, and there is drama here - you are answerable on AC as its an AC-official chat
Current chat wouldn't be - beef/drama here DOES NOT come to the AC. If you come here, then you know your drama ends here.

10-08-2009, 05:02 PM
That is actually somewhat along the lines of what I am thinking at the moment. I really have no problem with it if people prefer to go to the old one.

Looking into some other solutions as well.

10-08-2009, 08:09 PM
I'll be staying with the old one as well. Posts here are monitored so closely as it is, I really don't want to feel like big brother is watching all the time in the chat as well.

Yea, I can say things that some other people may find to be not as nice as they would like, but when it comes down to pretty much not being allowed to tell someone that they are wrong after they brush aside all of the nice "you're wrongs" as mere suggestions, it gets old. So many threads and posts have been locked because someone took offense to something and went off about it, and it's not fair that it's catered towards people who can't take things they don't agree with.
