One of my tiger barbs, has a spot on it's back between two of it's stripes. I've seen this spot in some photos as well. Does it mean anything or is it just a random marking?

Might be random markings, but watch it carefully JIC.

It's not a tumor or anything. Just a group of black scale patterning. I've seen it on other barbs I just wasn't sure if it was indicative of a shoal alpha, or a male or anything.

I don't have a photo of mine yet (they don't sit still much), but it looks like this, although the spot is bigger.

Ohhh...ok. I don't think it can hurt the fish, it passes my safety test, it may just be a spot pattern.

Yeah, I knew it was patterning, sorry to get people alarmed. Since its only on a small number of barbs I wasn't sure if there was anything to it.

Eh, always best to check with people and find out sooner than to have to deal with something ruining your fish because you didn't check or ask about it. I actually think it's pretty cool! thumbs2:

I've seen that a lot in petsmart stock.
