Hi. About 4 or 5 days ago, i planted some bulbs in my aquarium that i purchased. 2 of the bulbs seem to have a loose film growing over them. I need to know, DOES THIS MEAN THEY ARE NO GOOD AND NEED TO BE REMOVED? The film over the bulbs is exact to the film that builds up around a dead fish if you leave it in the tank too long. I have a 12 gallon tank with a 10watt 50/50 light (equivalent to 50 watts). Please advise, and thank you in advance! thumbs2:

I would suspect mold, and the bulb is dead. I've had similiar problems with some. Wait for another opinion though, as I'm fairly new to live plants.

I 'planted' mine on Monday and they did that too, but were cleared up by yesterday. No other activity with them yet though.

It is prob. no good. I check mine be gently sqeezing them. You will know if they are bad because they will be swishy. Good bulbs will be firmer. I also let mine float till they sprout, then plant them where I want.
