View Full Version : Hopefully these guys go to town on my algae.

Picked up 3 Amano Shimp at the LFS the other day. Don't know how many i would need for my size tank but so far these guys are eating a lot. Sure they have a TON to eat so we'll see how long it takes them to get the tank in shape.

Wow great pics! I've never had shrimp, been thinking about them though after my tank finishes cycling. Are they easy to keep?

nope...i have neons tetras(9)....and bloodfin tetras(3)... and 1 zebra daino who's been going crazy the last two weeks with nobody else. Nothing else survived the oxygen crises of April 2008

If you get the algae cleaned out, they will do a decent job of keeping it at bay. If you have a lot of algae they'll never keep up.

I think next water change i'm going to brush a lot of the algae off my driftwood which is easy to do and where they've been spending most of their time. With that gone hopefully they'll move on the the algae thats on the plants that i can't get off.
