they arrived today! if saw me other thread i was buying 10 for 17.50 which was the best deal i could find. She said that she always throws in one extra for good luck. Well she only went and gave me 20!!!! but no thats not all.. I have 2 berried females!!!!!!!!!! Still acclimating very slowly but here are pics of my two females and some other when i put them in my container. :19: I will get more when they're in my tank. I hope my cpd and cherry barb fry arent intrested in the few little ones.

YaY ! congrat on the new shrimps :)

I used to start with 35 and now, I think I have around 200 :) So, if you're lucky, you'll have a nice colony !

Good luck :D

thanks!! i cant wait lol. Out of the 20 there is like 4 or so small ones i dont want to release them into the big tank lol. I'm sure they will be safe though, i just checked and they too big for the cpd and cherry barb mouths. shrimp are so cool when they swim.

Nice! Personally I would put the 2 berried females in another small tank so the babies will grow without threat. :)

anyone like pictured here http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=149872&highlight=cherry+shrimp+sale would it be ok temporarily until they have the babies? Then raising the babies big enough in that?

I think your berried females should be fine in your larger tank. Algenco sent me two berried females, and I don't think the babies had much trouble. Besides - you won't always be able to tell that one of your females is berried - they hide most of the time. So, I think they'd be fine in the larger tank. Your call though, of course. Good luck!!! Congrats. :) I love mine

I have one of those, the slots in the side are wide enough for baby shrimp to swim right out through. A net breeder would be much better, both for confining the wee shrimp and allowing excellent water circulation.

thanks for replying everyone. I have decided just to let the females drop where ever. My cherry barbs chased the small shrimp when i first put them in but know they dont bother them. I think most of the babies will be fine.
