so whats the best way to get calcium and or salt off the trim of a tank, like the black part that the hood sits on. theres nothing in it and theres not gonna be for a while, i dont even have the stuff to cycle it, also im pretty sure i used to be a saltwater tanks, not pos though

You can just scrub it off with a wet paper towel.
If it's on really good, scrape off the top bit with a knife (watch out for the silicone...and your fingers) and then just scrub the rest off.

yeah i just tried with a "fish" rag, and theres no silocone in the way i was just kinda hoping to avoid a knife i i guess its the only way

Trying using vinegar on your rag. Another good idea is trying a softbrite pad. One of those abrasive ones made to take crap off without scratching. If it's only on the back trim and you're going to take a knife to it anyway, it's worth a shot!
