Can different kinds of barbs be mixed in the same tank. We wanted to get green barbs and we already have 5 tiger barbs. I just want to make sure they will all get along. Will green barbs and tiger barbs mate with each other?

Of course they'll get along, Lite. They are the same species (Puntius tetrazona). The 'green' is just a man-made color morph. They aren't different kinds, just different colors.
Only problem you'll most likely have is to add more Tigers (green though they may be) to an established group of Tiger Barbs can be problematic. When you get the greens, turn off the tank and room lights, and draw the curtains. That way you can acclimate and introduce the new green Tigers under the cover of darkness. Leave the tank light OFF until the next day.
Usually the established Tigers will accept the newcomers if they wake up with them in the school. If you have enough tank, five Greens would give you 10 Tiger Barbs, which is a good, mellow school; you won't see any picky aggression Tiger Barbs are famous for.
