I just tested the PH in my 10 gal in our new place and itís sitting at 8.4 at least (itís not 8.8 but I think itís a little more purple than 8.4?)

The KH took 15 drops to even then into a green colour (not even yellow) and GH turned orange after 5 drops, it didnít even go green

Aresí tank used to be sitting around 8-8.2 ph so Iím wondering if the higher ph will affect him at all badly?

Hmmhmm I did also just switch him from live plants to fake plants - not sure if that would affect it

If you fertilized or added supplements to the tank for the plants, then that could affect the PH, KH and GH.

I was adding flourish until about 2 weeks ago when I decided to just give up on the plants entirely since they were still just dying.

But I did a 100% change and clean out when I took them out because everything was covered in algae

So those are your water parameters straight out of tap, and having the water sit in a half filled cup for 24 hours?
