Hi, I'm fairly new to the hobby and I'm trying to create a shelter for my shrimps. I'm planning to get a piece of Driftwood and drill holes in it then tie Java Moss all over the wood.

Do you think it will work?
Will the shrimp actually use the holes?
Is it ok if I don't drill through the driftwood? The holes is closed on the other end.

Thanks.

Welcome to the AC.

Shrimp will use just about anything for shelter. I doubt they would use drilled holes in DW much, though.

Look into cholla wood, beneficial for shrimp in many ways, not just as shelter

What kind of shrimp do you have? My Red Cherry Shrimp greatly enjoy moss. Your plan to put a bunch of Java Moss in your tank with them is a good one.

The cholla wood and moss are great ideas for shelters. Not sure about drilling holes in DW. Is this a shrimp only tank? Shelter may be optional in that case-unless for aesthetics.
