I think a black background will make theblue on the betta stand out. That looks like how my betta looked like when I first got him. RIP ocean blue.

I think a black background would help the colors in your betta stand out even more

Agreed. Dark colors are always recommended for making fish colors stand out.

Black has always been my first choice for backrounds.

just to give you an option in choice, lol, I'm going to say dark green. Green sometimes will bring out a bit of green on your betta, and its not as dark as black if your lighting is poor.

Mind you, black is my favourite too. I used green on my 20gal tank because its the paint I had in the house. But it looks pretty good.

Our Betta is nearly identical. I've used black, but settled on a light "sand" color bkgrnd for ours. The betta was just so dark it looked like a silhouette of a fish.
