Mike is a great friend of mine, local guy to me that I can call anytime. I am posting this for him since he really isn't great on computers and therefore forums.

I know a few members have used him include Lady Hobbs, Mrramsey, and myself
http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/aquariumforum/showthread.php?t=48656

Shipping will be priority mall through USPS, he will fit as many plants into a box as he can safely. Potted plants do take up more room.

To order:
Go through and pick out a list and number you would like, pm me, I will call in the order to him and get a solid quote for shipping, I will advise you on his paypal address and confirm shipping information.

Knowing Mike, he will typically toss in a few extras if the box isn't all the way full. But I will promise that you will not be disappointed - if you are the 3 of us can work something out to correct the problem.

Sorry - no international shipping -customs really doesn't like that sort of thing lol

That'd be awesome. As of now the 75 is my favorite size aquarium, easy to filter, lots of room for aquascaping, and covers a ton of options for fish

When you set that up let me know and we can fill it up for you

Some sad news to report.

Mike from Mikeswetpets has decided to hang it up and go back to having fish and plants for his enjoyment only.

He had gotten a few threatening phone calls by the EPA due to shipping plants across state boarders, apparently they are starting to crack down on that a lot more, and as he put it:

-I'm too old to keep up with all these regulations that are different for each state-

Sadly, this means he won't be selling on aquabid or ebay anymore. I am seriously considering buying the business from him since he has an excellent source already, but that hasn't been brought up yet as an idea

Wow, that is a bummer...but I understand his thinking on this...keep us updated if you choose to give it a shot

Why would the EPA makes this an issue as long as the plant is not a noxious weed?

Yea he doesn't sell anything that is a federal invasive species ... But is just slowing down for now

Leave it to the EPA to snuff out another business. Thank you big government! *dramatic bow*

There are rules to follow regarding the sale of plants across state lines for some very good reasons. Let me give you a number here from the Bureau of Land Management:

It is estimated that invasive plants cause about $123 billion in damages and losses to the U.S. economy annually.

That "big government" requirement that is "shutting down this business" may be that he A) doesn't have a grower's license in his state which would cost him $100 for a 2 year license in New York State or B) He didn't label his shipping boxes as required by every single state.

Are you suggesting that the government isn't forcing his hand to shut down his business through intimidation and over regulation? Some people have had enough. This is just one of the many around this country that have shut down their business, because it's not worth dealing with an overbearing government. In the long run, it's just not worth it... and now you're missing out on a good variety of plants at a good price.

Most plants sold in the industry are not invasive. Big government is and always will be an invasive species that costs $1 trillion in damages and losses to the US economy annually. I don't see how it's equivalent. Seems to pale in comparison.

I do not consider this licensing to be intimidation and over regulation.

Frankly, neither of us knows the specific issues he was having.

Some regulations are good; some regulations are bad. But if you come from the stand point that all regulation is bad then there is no use in continuing the conversation.

Sounds like licensing wasn't a problem. Over regulation between states was. Threats from the EPA just contributed to the angst of running a legitimate business and probably put him over the top. He's been in business for a long while, has a great record on Aquabid and eBay, and then the EPA comes around, knocks on his door and throws some threats in his face. Yeah... sounds like government is looking out for everyone, except for the hardworking guy trying to make it in the United States.

I would argue that a regulation that forces businesses out of business, by making their situation uncomfortable, is a bad regulation.
