Welcome to the new forum. We are now using a new forum software that should solve a lot of the buggs that we have experienced latetely.

A number of features from the old software is currently not active. Most of them will be updated and activated during the coming days.
I will post announcements as new and old functions come online.

Hey William, thanks for the update! As someone who's run a few forums (and updated them) in the past, I know how much of a hassle a seemingly simple task like that can turn into. So, from someone who gets it... thanks for the hard work and time committed! =]

Also, it looks great. thumbs2:

Looks awesome. However, text being centered on every post is slightly annoying however, not sure if that is intentional or not.

I was just going to mention that. It doesn't look intentional. Also, "General Settings" doesn't work. It gets a bunch of errors. Thought I'd throw that your way. :22:

The text alignment will be fixed. It is strictly a cosmetic issue so I thought I could fix it after the forum is live.

Thnks for letting me know about the general settings bug.
Other known bugs
Photo album, review section adn buy and sell do not work. they need to be individually updated

Just a question, has the new forum got a new way of showing the Reputation Points System? I used to have 2 stars and several gold bars, now I've got a red one, some greys and some bars. Just wondering. :22:

Yes, The new forum displays the reputation a bit differently. I am planning to edit the graphic to bring it closer to how it used to be.

Time to bugshoot

William

Hmmm what happens when you try to access it with the ipad?? It should still be working.

I am sure we will be chasing bugs for weeks. But I rather use all of you guys as beta testers rather than try to find everything myself before it goes online.

Text is now once again left aligned in the forum posts.

I was trying to figure out what floating plant guest I have in my tank now. After some online searches I found it was likely duckweed. When I try to search the forum for more info it surprisingly showed zero results. I then found this post (was not on in a while) seeing a change was made today. So I searched on a couple other words as a test and it appears the search is not working on anything older than today (Jan 27). I thought that would be something you would like to be aware of.

thanks for letting me know. I will rebuild the search index. It can take some time before it is finished. will need to respider all 1 000 000 posts

Hey William, this update finally fixed that funny thing on the profiles, where it asked What fish we have breaded hehe. Bread instead of bred.

William
01-28-2013, 07:07 AM
Thats great. I "fixed" that a long time ago but the software insisted on "breaded" even though the raw text was changed ;-)

There are no gifts displayed in posts and I can't find the shop menu.

William

shop is one of the functions that has not been brought back yet as I still need to update it

finding it taking me alot more time finding new posts and sifting through them, everything seems centered and 'bubbly'. the sigs look like they take up even more room now. sorry to rant, mostly cosmetic things I am noticing.

William
01-28-2013, 03:06 PM
Cosmetic things will be tweaked as things go live but it is pointless for me to tweak anything before all functions are back online. If i do the next function I add might f##k things up again. The old forum icons will be brought back to life again among other things.

I do not know why it would be harder to find new posts. You still have the new post page to help you with that.

William

The sig space limitation function is not yet activated. When that happens the sigs will get smaller again. You will also get the option to ignore/ turn of sigs you dont like to see.

One thing that do make it harder to navigate right now is the lack of breadcrumbs. They will make a comeback.

Ahh good, I miss my breadcrumbs. =]

Will our received gifts eventually show again? I'm rather fond of my little school of bettas and other assorted critters

William

They should hopefully all show up again. That is the plan anyway :22:

When uploading pics, it doesnt give the option to copy the link to clipboard anymore and when trying to insert pics it comes up with a post error.

William
01-28-2013, 10:20 PM
are you uploading pic to the forum or the photo gallery

How are you trying to insert pic. what is the error message?

Sandz
01-28-2013, 11:46 PM
I tried all ways. In detail:

When I upload an img up to the photogallary I used to be able to click on it and get the link or address that it resonates to. Its not there anymore.

When I go to insert a file in the forum for a picture, I tried off of my hard drive and got a 406 error. I just tried with this post.

The only successful way I can upload a picture is to use the [img] code and right click on the file to get the property root address.

Not sure if you intend to keep it as a new feature, but if so.... the calendar section seems to not like any year past 2006. :hmm3grin2orange:

It is kind of neat to see on a day to day basis who joined the forum.

William
01-29-2013, 01:08 AM
Sandz: I will look into it.

Trilliane: I expext I will disaple that feature.

I second, triple, quad +1 to your hard work.

As someone who works in the IT realm, this big of a change deserves all the reputation, all the beer possible. thumbs2:
Looks fantastic, there will always be tweaks/bugs to fix but for where we are now..beyond impressive and great work.
