Assembled in a sleek, low-profile housing; this advanced fixture features a performance driven electronic ballast, parabolic reflector, protective splash lens, and adjustable aquarium mount for easy installation. Positive aspects of the product (pros):
|
Build quality, light output.
|
Cons:
|
fan noise is quite loud (but then, the large amount of heat generated would appear to justify this).
|
I don't know if all fans are this loud, but its LOUD, believe me (especially if you have 2!).
But if you try to leave the fans off, I'm sure it would adversely affect the temp of your tank, if you have the lights close to the surface.. They get hot enough to fry an egg, and I hear that you can reduce the life of the bulbs if you run them that hot..
So, if you have company or something, make sure you can shut the fans off easily (have the plugs for the fans at an easily accessible location)..

Inexpenive, great plant growth

Cons:

Hot, Noises

I own two of the 2-bulb fixtures (a 78W and a 108W) and they don't come with fans so they can get pretty hot. With the 108W fixture, when the light come on it makes a popping sound for a while and then makes the same sounds again at lights off. Not sure what it is.
