The AI Sol exclusively uses white Cree XP-G and blue/royal blue XP-E series LEDs with a combination of the proprietary 40 and 70 degree lenses, balanced specifically to achieve the greatest spread without sacrificing intensity. At just 75W from the wall per module, the Sol is one of the most efficient lighting solutions available. With low energy consumption and minimal heat output, you can watch your coral grow and your energy bill shrink. Whether you have upgraded to a larger tank or just want more lighting in your current tank, the modular system provides you the flexibility no other product offers. The AI Sol is the most controllable aquarium lighting available in the industry, with a vast array of color options at your fingertips (taken directly from the manufacture’s web site)

If I could afford it, I would put this lighting on all of my tanks. The quality of lighting as compared to T5HO is amazing. These LEDs are far better than any configuration of T5HO that I have ever seen. There is minimal heat and I really like that options to control the intensity of the light with a timer.
Although the initial costs are considerably higher than a T5HO fixture, the long term cost when comparing the two are about the same over a 5 year period. That is based on the LEDs having a life span of 5 years and changing all the bulbs in a 6 bulb T5HO fixture every 12 months
