Description:
The Rapids Power Filter provides 3-stage filtration; mechanical, chemical and biological. For freshwater or saltwater, the Rapids Power Filter filters out undesirable particulate material and purifies the water with activated carbon. The unique Bio-Insert provides large surface area for beneficial bacteria to colonize.

Compact but powerful, the Rapids Power Filter filters and pumps 80 gallons per hour. Great for nano tanks and mini-reef applications. Submersible motor uses no O-rings and operates on only 12 Volts AC. Includes external AC transformer to step voltage down from 120 to 12 Volts. Approximately 4-3/4" x 4-1/4" x 5" tall.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): cheap, decent flow
Cons: very noisy, cheaply made

I had a tight budget and was in need for a small filter for a 5 gallon tank. I decided to pick up this filter to give it a try. It was a waste of money. The filter tub is actually three parts that fit together very loosely so it allows for air to get through the intake if the water level is not kept very high. This makes the filter very loud and makes it have less water filtering power. It also needs to be perfectly leveled otherwise it will not want to work. I was hoping this would be a good product but I was sorely disappointed. I went out and bought cheap internal filter that has worked out better then this.
