It works fine for a good price. There are reported problems with the heater heating up unexpectadley so I cant reccommend it.

If your going to spend 20 bucks for a heater go buy a stealth heater, these are not reliable in anyway

Cheap, works well.

Not the safest option
|
Though these filters have a reputation of failure, i own a few and have not seen this. I have even run one dry accidentally and it still works, even with the endcap melted to the glass. It ran like the for 2 days. So I would say this filter is more reliable than its reputation suggests.

Not reliable

For the first three months that I owned this it worked fine and kept the temperature stable. Then we had a power outage and, when the power came back on, the temperature skyrocketed to 84 degrees on the second lowest setting. This stressed some of my new fish out and I quickly got rid of it for a more reliable brand.

have had a couple that would heat too much, even on lowest setting
|
There are worse products out there and I still have a couple of these to use in a pinch, but I would not buy one again. Many of them heated too much, even when turned down to the lowest setting.
