Description:
|
A liquid test kit for ammonia. 0.0 - 7.3 mg/l, 70 tests. Includes a glass test tube with stopper, a long-necked plastic bulb for water extraction and a plastic tray for holding all items including the test solution.
An included chart indicates the proportion of ammonia (NH3, toxic) to ionic ammonium (NH4+, non-toxic) at various pH readings.
This is a "Nessler"-based colour change test and is not compatible with certain water conditioners like AmQuel+.

Positive aspects of the product (pros):
|
Easy to use, nice siphon bulb, included tray
|
Cons:
|
Seems inaccurate, incompatible with certain water detoxifiers
|
It seemed to work for me but always indicated 0.6 (safe?)
However one of my fish died and when a second one started getting ill, I used AmQuel+ which forced me to change test kits (to API). My first result was 1.0 - toxic.
Unfortunately the second fish died and I can't help but wonder - if this test kit was more accurate, would they have lived?
So I can't recommend it.
It's easy to use, only one reagent bottle, and the tray seems insignificant but a great idea - I wish API would do this to hold the test tube in place while you add reagent. I've toppled over the API test tube several times already. The plastic siphon bulb is also very nice, I use it to fill my API test tubes.
