Positive aspects of the product (pros):
Versitile.
Cons:
Hard to fill the aquarium all the way up if desired.
Versitile filter. Great for low water level tanks. Stuff some java moss into the filter and it will grow down the water flow into the water, looks excellent.
It is near impossible to fill the aquarium all the way if you want to. Not a very impressive flowrate.

Price, effective for small tanks
Cons:

Only for small tanks
In writing this review, keep in mind that I am using the stock filter for the 2.5 gallon acrylic aquarium kit. This filter is great for low flow, small tank size, low bioload applications. Do not count on this filter to be a performer for larger tanks or well stocked tanks.

Looks alright, really quiet if water level is up to the "lip"
Cons:
Takes up a decent amount of space in tank
I got this for a basic filter and for some water movement for my 10G turtle tank, it does it job for the most part. It only filters like 1/3 to 1/2 the tank if theres some decorations obstructing the water column. Turns on and off fine(I leave it off days at a time when waters low, before changes.)
I recommend this product for basic applications

works better then an undergravel setup in a 10 gallon tank
Cons:
Takes up tank space, and water level has to be down a couple inches for it to work.
Seems to work well, the filter bags can be washed and refilled with carbon, but replacements aren't terribly expensive. It takes up a bit of space in the tank and the water level has to be down about two - three inches from the top of the tank for the filter to work.

low price, can replace stock filters w/small bags
Cons:
low quality pump, low flow rate, openings in water flow large
I replaced the carbon filter with a small mesh bag filled with carbon+zeolyte. Figured since it was a small tank it could use the extra ammonia removal. The openings at the water intake are pretty large though. For an intended use of a 1-3 gallon tank, it's safe to assume there will be small fish in them... which should have warranted smaller openings that fish couldn't get sucked up into. The air pump died after about 2 weeks of use.

Quiet
Cons:
Takes up valuable real estate, sucks food in too fast.
While it is the most quiet filter I've ever owned, it takes up too much space in-tank for it to be of any real worth.
When trying to feed bottom feeders the filter usually gets the food before they do.
Snails clogged mine.
------------------------------ A severe lack of trichogaster.
Just because your Gourami is sick does not mean it is always Iridovirus, DGIV, Gourami Disease, et cetera.
Look at all the other factors in your tank before coming to this conclusion.

Very Quiet
Cons:
tank space, intake chamber cleaning
This is a VERY quiet filter. Seems pretty reliable.
It does take up a bit of your tank interior space, and the intake (lower) portion of the filter can be a bit difficult to keep clean.
You will have to leave a gap from the top of your tank to the outflow of the filter, which also takes up valuable tank space.

Cons:

bulky

Good for use in some applications. Personally, I wouldn't use it in a tank where space was at a premium, but it does make a good backup filter in emergencies
