This is a good option for my QT tank.
The sponge filter was keeping my boy up at night (noise from air pump, bubbling)..

I won't argue wether it's good for plant growth, but at the very least it serves as a good back-up heater!
There is a light on the Thermoset that tells me if it is on or not.

I tun half a cube under the tap for a bit and feed this to my small community fish.
It's perfect for them (under 4"), but yeah, larger fish you'd want to not defrost the cubes and just put them in the tank..

Good thing my pandas, etc like this stuff, because ALOT of it sinks as soon as it hits the water..
Not so good for danios, etc, which are surface feeders (though they will make dives for it till the pellets gets to about halfway down)..

From all accounts (that I've fielded, anyways) the best biological media on the market..
Substantial, and reusable (I guess if it gets really covered with slime you can bathe it in a bleach solution, and then rinse the heck out of it with fresh water.. Sounds risky, though)..

Cheap, and works good enough, I guess.. But you get what you pay for, they say, so I wouldn't mind paying more for sturdier, more re-usable stuff like Efi-substrat..
