The whole world mistreat animals to different degrees but that doesn´t make it right. This is such a pointless suffering, it is not like they are eating the goldfish once they have died. I always think one should do whatever possible to give animals the best situation possible but I still think you need to look differently on things that have a point, a purpose (medical experiments, food production etc) and things that really don´t have any purpose at all like in this case.
