after reviewing an article in the LA times "science briefing" 1/24/09 regarding cetomimidae (big nosed whalefish) i was able to identify this fish floating near death in Alamitos Bay Long Beach California. I have a picture if there is any interest. considering the rarity of this very deep water fish and the fact it was found in a Bay i thought was of some interest.
