Poodle Resources

The poodle derives its name from the German word Pudel, which is short for Pudelhund, which can be translated as “splashing dog”. This is an aptly chosen name, since the Poodle has been traditionally used as a hunting dog that retrieves prey from the water. The poodle was bred to be a skilled gun dog and it is still used by hunters today. A majority of the poodles are however kept as companion dogs only. There are three different poodle sizes: toy poodle, miniature poodle, and standard poodle. Poodles come in all sorts of colours, from black, brown and white to red, apricot and silver.
