Chesapeake Bay Retriever Resources

The Chesapeake Bay Retriever was developed in the North American Chesapeake Bay. This brave and sturdy dog can be used for hunting during the cold and windy winders in the area and will even break ice and go into freezing water over and over again to retrieve prey. It is also a good guarding dog with strong protective instincts. It is naturally dominant and needs a firm handler during obedience training. In many families, the Chesapeake Bay Retriever – affectionately referred to as the Chessie – will only recognize its trainer as a superior. The rest of the family will be of equal rank or even subordinate, and the Chesapeake Bay Retriever must be properly socialized and trained to avoid problems. If you want to learn more about this wilful and loyal dog, take a look one of the websites dedicated to the breed.
