Brittany Spaniel

The Brittany dog is often referred to as a spaniel, but when it comes to working characteristics this breed is actually more similar to pointer and setters. The Brittany dog is a gun dog developed in 19th century France to aid hunters. It is called Brittany since it hails from the Brittany province in France.

The Brittany dog is an excellent pet dog for anyone who is prepared to provide the dog with physical and mental exercise each day. If left under stimulated, the Brittany dog can find destructive outlets for its energy or grow depressed. Training your Brittany dog is very easy and this sensitive and sweet-natured dog responds well to praise. Harsh words are seldom required; clear instructions are usually enough to make a Brittany dog understand and follow your command. Brittany dogs really want to please and work together with their owner. Yelling at your dog or even punishing it physically can make it loose its spirit and make training scary rather than enjoyable.
