CATFISH Help!!!!
Ok so I'm looking for a good scavenger Catfish/Algie Eater to put with my Oscars (they are still young 3 to 4 inchs in a 125) I prefer one which is active during the day as I never see my Rafael or Synos. I've had a couple people tell me that Corys do just fine with Cichlids but to me that would be like giving them a piece of Popcorn to eat?? So any Ideas what to get
. Sorry postd this under Cichlids also didn't know how to move it sorry

Corys don't eat algae and personally I wouldn't keep them with oscars. As a scavenger you could look at Hoplo catfish? In terms of algae it is better to find out the problem that's causing algae than trying to get a fish to keep it in line.
Most plecos as they age eat less algae so I'd stay away from them as algae eaters. My therapist says I need a bigger tank . . . . .

I kept Oscars for quite a few years they are a fantastic fish. They will not be small or peaceful like that for very long. My Oscars ate anything they could get in their mouth including each other when they got old enough to realize they both wanted to be "only fish"... I'm not sure what you can put in but IMHO I would not even think about putting a small peaceful little cory in with an Oscar.
Can I ask what size tank you have?30 gal Freshwater

cory cats would be lunch to a oscar. one catfish that maxes out around 9-10" and can hold it's own with large cichlids is pim. blochii (4-line cat). it is also an active catfish.
Thar she blows!!!

Thanks for the reply everyone. I agree with you when these guys mentioned cory's(though I have always liked them) like I said to me it would be like popcorn for the Oscar's. I do have a large Raphael and two Synos Multi that are getting pretty good size. I only see them mostly after lights out though. The Raphael is a neat fish but kinda like a Bassett Hound (spends most of his time laying there watching everyone else, not much of a scavenger, loves his shrimp pellets). I will go on Planet Catfish and check out this Hoplo not familiar with it? I also love Pleco's they are like Oscars lots of personality but I've had them before they poop way more than they clean.

I always had SAE`s with my ̉scar`s, worked out really good as long as the SAE`s are big enough.
just what worked for me.
