Default Dwarf Gourami tankmates (46gal bowfront)

    Hi all,

I have been reading these forums ever since I decided to get an aquarium 6 months ago. Its been very helpful in answering most of my questions. Now I am trying to figure out what to add as my last few fish.

I currently have a 46gal bowfront with a Marineland Penguin 350 filter. I have 8 Serpae Tetra, 4 Peppered Cories, 2 female Dalmation Mollies, 1 Male Dwarf Gourami, 1 Male Flame Gourami and 1 Bristlenose Pleco. So far they are all cohabitating peacefully (even tho the Tetras are supposed to be nippy).

Theoretically, I have room for a few more fish. The tank seems plenty busy, but I was hoping to add a few more. I was originally interested in adding an Angelfish, but that might be pushing my luck with the Tetras. Maybe another type of Cory or German Blue Ram? Id like to find something a bit less common and not red in color.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Return one gourami first. You mentioned they scuffle a little will get worse.

Get more of the SAME kind of cory...if they aren't the same, they don't school.

ONE angel might work, though those serpaes might nip the fins.

    Add more serpaes, too.

If you return a gourami, you should still have enough room left for another smaller school of tetra...white skirt tetras would look pretty cool with that mix. Or black neons.

    8 peppered cories
    10-12 serpaes
    1 DG OR flame gourami
    1 BN pleco
    2 mollies
    8 medium tetra/other small fish
20 gallon with a male betta, neons, glowlights, and red cherry shrimp. (work in progess) Recently added a few LIVE plants and driftwood, Woooohoooo!

    just to let you know...

I tried the dwarf gourami and ram combo in my 45.
Terrible decision. the DG was the meanest little fella. would pester and chase my EBR to no end.
I ended up returning the gourami b/c it was too much for my ram.
