Generally twice, sometimes three times. My routine is:

Morning, one very small pinch of flakes (one of three different varieties, rotated)
Evening, a pinch of flakes or pellets
Later evening, two or three sinking catfish wafers
Once a week I feed frozen brine shrimp

    The stock is:
    18 cherry barbs
    8 cory cats
    9 or 10 otos
    1 or 2 assassin snails

Small feedings twice a day, Bottom feeder foods after lights out.

Depending on who you are you also get:
Twice weekly veggie treats, Once or twice a month live treats [Earthworms, crickets - Home raised feeders] & I fast them the day before I do WC.
    Gas mileage isn't everything OIIIIIIIO
Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.
Why pretend there are no stupid questions? Actually, There are many stupid questions: "Should I drink this bleach?" Is just one example.
Having said that, Just because it's a stupid question doesn't mean that it shouldn't be asked. It's better to know.

A warm beer is better than a cold beer. Because nothing is better than a cold beer, and a warm beer is better than nothing.

It's really interesting to see everyone's responses to this as I've been wondering the same thing.

Being a new fish slave, I have wrestled with the "as much as they can eat in 3 minutes" instructions on most of the packaging. Sometimes my cories don't even notice the pellets or wafers within that time frame, depending where in the tank they fall. I never take the sunken food out and it is all gone by the next feeding, so I assume all is fine. (Water parameters are not an issue, anyway.)

I've been feeding twice a day, morning and evening. Part of my rationale for that is that all of my fish are juveniles or less than fully grown, and I have assumed that they need more regular feedings for healthy growth just as children do. Does that logic hold with fish?

My fish can eat an awful lot in three minutes. My oscars practically inhale pellets.
