Hungry, hungry... guppies?
0
My guppies have such a voracious appetite. I keep trying to feed the bottom feeders and they eat everything I put in there? It's not like I don't feed them twice a day.

Might have to feed the bottom guys at night when the lights go out.

Is this a new game?
All kidding aside they are pigs and produce a lot of waste. Have you tried sinking tablets? They will eat these to but at least the bottom fish get a chance at something.

+1 the sinking tablets, the trick is to keep everyone else occupied at one end of the tank while you chuck the tablet in the other end and watch to make sure it doesn't get hijacked before it hits the bottom

+1 with all of the above. I put sinking pellets & tablets into my tank - other fish come to investigate but my cories know they are for them.

Haha, yeah I tried that and that's what got me laughing last night. I put in a fer shrimp pellets and the yuppies bullied out the shrimp ans pygmy corys. So I dropped a few more on the other end and the whole pack shifted from digging around for the scraps to the new pile. Crazy fish, fed them their flakes, then a freeze dried medley, and still ate all the pellets lol. Maybe I'll hide some under the driftwood

Funny - I find that after a while, my fish get full and start ignoring the food I put in the tank (I put in the flakes little by little over a period of about 3min) - it's at that point that I drop in pellets/wafers. My shrimp bully my cories for food. I put in enough pellets that the shrimp take what they want and whatever is left is for the cories.

careful about overfeeding

Guppies are opportunistic fish... if there is food, they will eat it... they don't seem to know the meaning of being full.
They normally eat from the top of tank, so put something that floats (worms, flakes) and then drop wafer or pellets for bottom feeders.
Wafers are bigger and harder, so guppies can't chew them... but bottom feeders can.
Guppies will go after these too once they "get the scent" of other food.

I drop algae wafers for my snails in at night, at least an hour after lights out. My guppies tend to "go to sleep", all facing south and hovering..... when they are like that they ignore the wafer.
