Eep! A rummy nose baby!
Hi AC! Well I have been AWOL for a long time... a move to Japan, then a move back to the US, and here I am again. My aquarium hasn't been at the forefront of my activities lately, but I've at least kept up with a minimal level of maintenance.
Imagine my surprise, then, when I walked past the tank tonight and saw a tiny rummy nose tetra up by the glass. From the corner of my eye I thought it was a mutant cherry shrimp with a red nose... but no! It's a real live fry, about 3/8" long with a bright red nose.
I've been chasing him with a camera trying to snag a picture, but he's pretty skittish - probably why he is still alive! I wonder how many fry got eaten? I wonder if this is the first spawn, or ?? It's quite heavily planted, so there is plenty of cover... maybe there are more in there somewhere?
Anyone else ever had these guys breed? Anything I can do to encourage it to happen again?
Will post a pic if I can manage it...

Thats always so cool! I remember watching TV one night and in the tank next to the TV, out swims 2 baby bronze Corys from under a piece of driftwood! I'd seen the eggs about a month before and just assummed they had been eaten.Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.
