Snails not coming out
I have 4 mystery snails (ivory, golden, blue, black) and they are in a 60 gallon tank with other fish. They have been in the tank for about a week and they were all active for the first few days but now they won't come out of their shells. No fish are picking on them and the water is fine. I pulled all 4 out and put them in a cup of tank water and I checked on them about 30 minutes later, they were all moving around. Anyone have any ideas why they will come out in the cup but not the tank?

What are your water parameters? Is your tank cycled? What is the temp of the tank?

I don't know the exact numbers on the water, but I know all of the stuff is where it's suppose to be. We've checked it and we've had the pet store check it. The tank is cycled and the temp is about 80 degrees.

Wouldn't trust anything if we don't have the exact numbers for parameters. Also, are you using strips or liquid test kits?
Also, maybe they are more active at night when you're not looking at them. They might be sleeping when you picked them up and they just woke up so they were moving in the cup.Da name's Paul. Not Dave. ROFL
Learn to give and take. That's how things should always work.

I don't deal with the parameters, that's my boyfriends stuff. He uses strips through. He put all the snails on a rock and in 2 days they have only moved about 5 inches at most. They are just chilling half open but close if you handle them. I appreciate the responses, they are alive and do move some so I'll leave them be and see how it goes. Thanks!
