    Question Best Beginner Lizard/gecko/chameleon?

As the title says, what would you recomend as a good starter species be it gecko, chameleon or lizard?

As xmas is approaching I am hoping my parents would get me a small reptile of sorts, I have some experience with reptiles already as we have a hermanns tortoise. So temps, heat lamps, thermostats etc I am already used to deaing with.

I have a large storage area along from my dest that I was going to convert as a vivarium with some DIY. Its measurements are approx 18x20x18 lxdxh, so its almost square but slightly larger going from front to back.

Things I know I can get my hands on here, just from memory in lfs, is; chinese water dragons, leopard geckos, regular green chameleons, iguanas. I know the water dragons and iguana grow too big but that's just to give an idea of the range of things we can get here.

Snakes are totally out of the question

    Cheers folks!

I know a reptile-lover who swears by leopard geckos, though I have no personal experience with them.

Leopard Gecko all the way! We love ours and they require very little care.

the easiest is probably a anole or leopard gecko. depends on the average conditions in your home. if your house is humid. go with the anole. if it's dry go with the leopard gecko.

a chameleon of any spaces is not a good starter lizard. they are easily stressed, expensive, have short life spans. and must have tightly controlled conditions. plus large cages compared to size.

    personally i like leos

    Yup! Exactly my thoughts.

Too bad you can't get a snake though. They're ideal.

Had a quick google, awesome looking but pretty aggressive. Maybe when I'm more experienced

I started keeping snakes with one of the most aggressive species you can get. Of course, at the time I had no idea it was one of the worst snakes for a beginner... but hey I learned that being bitten wasn't so bad.
