  1. Default New Angelfish Tank

I have finally finished moving around the country for a few years and unfortunately had to give my Oscar away , Now my tank is up and cycled, ready for some fish. I have a few black Angels, and have a few Regular Angels on the way from Angels+. So, it's back to raising Angels! Should be fun keeping them here in Philadelphia.

Angel tanks are fun no matter where you are. I started with a couple angels too... now I have 6 tanks of them. I have 9 adults, a dozen that are 4 months old, and a few hundred free swimmers.

I love Angelsplus's angels. I want to get my hands on a few of the 90%+ red Koi.

You'll need to post up some pictures when you get them!

Unless your tank is heavily planted and large, you will have a problem keeping angels together. Mated pairs do well together but the others will take a beating unless they have plenty of room to get away from the mates. I have 2 angels but both are in separate 55 gallons due to them both being males.

Hope you are feeding the bacteria before the fish arrive!

Also, good luck with the storm!

A 75 gal with eight Discus, fake plants, and a lot of wood also with sand substrate. Clean up crew is fifteen Sterba's Corys. Filters: canister w/UV, in-tank algae scrubber that removes phosphates and nitrates! Also, a highly dangerous commercial nitrate removal unit from hell

I did feed the bacteria for the cycle. I also put a few (6) Zebra nerite snails in the tank to get the water adjusted a little. I bought 4 black Angels from Aquarium Center in New Jersey. That is an amazing fish store.
I lost one of them (literally, I cannot find him anywhere), and one of the others seems to be losing some of his top fin.
Does anyone know if the zebra Nerite snails eat the fins of fish? All of the research that I have done leads me to believe that they don't. I would like to figure out what is going on and stop it before it continues.
Anyway, we made it through the storm with no problems and no loss of power, although some places around got hit pretty hard.

Have you checked your water parameters?

IME Nerite snails are not any sort of threat to any healthy fish whatsoever.

Having said that many types snails are opportunist and will munch on whatever is lying around, Much like many fish. This may explain why there are no remains.

Jumping out is anther possibility to consider, How many angels are in this 55?

My GF calls me insincere... I pretend to care.

That's what I thought. I'm going to do a partial water change and check all the parameters.
I currently only have the 3 Angel Fish in the tank. I thought about him jumping out, but couldn't find it anywhere outside. No other pets, besides my 2 year old daughter :) J/k. She doesn't go near the tank unless we are around anyway.
