Good luck to everyone in the storm zone!

You'd think that builders, planners, etc., would make coastal cities a bit more storm friendly...but what do I know?

Even when we lose power they make us sit there in the lobby and wait several hours to see if power will come back on before finally calling corporate on cell phones and asking if we are allowed to leave, and then they make us wait one more hour before finally giving up on waiting. Theyve done it several times before.

Tell me about it! I worked for Hess Corperation in FL. A hurricane come and I had to stand in the store all night, in the dark, holding the glass doors closed. Because it's a 24 hour joint, there was no keys, that I knew of, to even lock them.

The place was flooding and I couldn't even let go of the doors long enough to push the water outside. When the boss dragged himself in at 8 o'clock in the morning, all he could do was complain that the floors were still damp.

His speed boat ended up going through his garage so that made me happy.

Hey gang with the Hurricane coming we are leaving out house for a few days to stay at the hotel where I work. What type of things can I do with my tank to give the fish the best possible chance of survival if we lose power at the house?

Water quality is good. Gonna feed them before we leave. Check valve on the airline that goes into the tank..

Thanks! I didn't notice this thread. Lots of good info. Unfortunately I have no generator or battery operated anything and no place to get one before the storm hits. Crossing my fingers that all goes well!

If you have time I'd recommend a quick water change of a substantial amount. Just to ensure water quality, you know?

I was hoping to find some info here with the coming storm. My question is what to do about heat. We do not have a generator anymore, some "family member" sold it >.> Its only about 40F outside...I'm worried they will die from the cold. I'm prit'near ready to go out and buy hand warming packets and tape them to the bottom of my tank.

blu I'd say wrap the tanks in heavy blankets and hope for the best.
    Coastie-to-be... hopefully.
