Me too. Fish see movement in the room and connect movement to being fed. They do not have human emotions or human hearing and do not have a brain that has name recognization.

It is funny cause from repitition that if Amber has it . The snake knows to go and get behind her neck when her hair is down.. lol then Amber runs to bathroom and takes a shower, but yea I do know they dont have any feelings but it still is fun

I have 200+ fish (my husband has the count to the exact number). I don't think, even if I did name them, that I'd remember them all. I do, however, have names for 2 of my fish: Pufferman, for my puffer fish, and Cichli-Cell, for one of my Mbuna Cichlids.

I try to name all my fish but some names just won't stick. I feel bad if I can't come up with a name for someone.
To me all fish have personality and they're all pets. I think it's funny to see so many people who think fish don't need names... on a fish forum! May not be always rational, but it's a way to make the fish part of your family instead of just a decoration.
Our male bettas are named Melvin, Cosmo, and Hugo; my female is Agnes.
I named our rainbow shark Ursula because she hid in a cave all day.
It's just fun. :P Creates a sense of familiarity.

We have a 5 year old so we have names for most of our fish, (that's an excuse tho, because I'm sure we would even without our kid. You don't need to be 8 or under to enjoy such things)
6in Comet Goldie- Yue (you-way)
4in Oranda Goldie- Sgt Pepper
4in Pleco- Orinoco (not too original since that's the type of pleco he is)
Dwarf Puffer- King Tut
Betta- Myomoto (or Napoleon depending on who you ask)
unnamed white clouds, zebra danios & kuhli loaches
