Taking on a DIY hood... Need advice
Hi All,
I am planning my 55g tank redux as some of you may have noticed from other threads of mine. This is going to be a retrofit project and not a from scratch build.
I am wanting to go with some live plants on driftwood and rocks so low light anubia, java ferns, etc. I was looking at homedepot and lowes at a couple 4' shop light fixtures and running 2 40watt 6500k bulbs.
This would be positioned within an enclosed canopy above glass tops. Do you think this would be adequate lighting? It has to be better than the 2 15watt 18" tubes that are there now lol.Mike

I had the same type of lighting set-up on a 55 gallon tank. It worked great for low & mid light requiring plants
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

Thanks Cliff... i thought it would probably be fine for that but it always helps to hear from someone who has done it before.
