My AC20 biomax isnt submerged completely
Just wondering if it is supposed to be. The aquaclears have three filter media: the sponge, the carbon, and the biomax. I replaced the carbon that came with it with a Chemi-Pure filter medium which is supposed to last for months. The problem is that it takes up more space and pushes my biomax filter halfway above the water.
Is this a problem? I know the biomax is supposed to help out beneficial bacteria. If its only halfway submerged, will it not work as good?

Biomax doesn't 'help out' the BB, It is where it lives, The portion out of the water is not available and this literally and effectively reduces the biological filtration capacity of your filter by half.
Reverse the positions of the chemi pure and bio-max.Last edited by Goes to 11!; 10-18-2012 at 10:05 PM.

For a little more clarification, if its wet, and stays wet, you're okay. If its just out of the water and completely dried out, it isnt doing anything for your BB.
