    Question Help Identifying Gourami

    0 Not allowed!
Hello I recently purchased a few dwarf gourami at a local pet store and I was wondering if anyone could help me in identifying their genders.

I know the one with striping is a male, but I'm not sure if the other is a female or a male of another species / hybrid.

this one seems like a male:

This one I need help with:

Thank you very much for your responses.
I will check back tonight when I get home from work.

The second is a flame gourami, male.

Please don't put them in the same tank unless it is over 55g. They will kill each other.
20 gallon with a male betta, neons, glowlights, and red cherry shrimp. (work in progess) Recently added a few LIVE plants and driftwood, Woooohoooo!

I think that the first one's a neon dwarf or dwarf gourami. The second one is either a honey gourami or +1 to Azurescriber

It seems like the fish store guy was completely full of shit. I asked if that one was a female and he basically bold face lied to me.

Never trust someone trying to sell you something. And never trust a pet store employee in general....there's no guarantee they have ANY knowledge.

Let me re-state....don't house them in the same tank. :)

Edit: The second is a flame gourami because of the blue on his dorsal. :)

They're both Colisa lalia. Just different color variants (One being the original striped, the other being "Flame" or Full-Red.)

Females of Colisa lalia are rare in stores as they're gray to silver and not very attractive.

Colisa lalia have dispositions similar to that of other Gouramis and Bettas, where the males will fight for territory if not given enough room and food.
    A severe lack of trichogaster.

Just because your Gourami is sick does not mean it is always Iridovirus, DGIV, Gourami Disease, et cetera.
Look at all the other factors in your tank before coming to this conclusion.
