    Exclamation Maybe sick Gourami?

    0 Not allowed!
    Hey guys,
Im not sure if i should be worried or not, but my blue gourami (maybe a 3 spot?) that i inherited from a friend has swollen up on one side. Tank conditions are good as far as I can tell (i don't have a master test kit. Im going to get one tomorrow). I know that ammonia is below .02ppm and ph is 7. Hes in a 20 gal with a fire gourami, 3 cory cats and a very young peacock eel. everybody seems to get along fine. He is still acting normal, swimming fine and being curious, "feeling" everything ect. Im not sure if I should be concerned. Any ideas?

He looks bloated. How much have you been feeding them?

Yes, he's a Blue color variant of the Three-Spot species. And at his full-grown size there will only be enough room for one Gourami in there, and depending on his genetics he may even need a bigger tank as the larger males can reach six inches.

Edit; Actually that looks like a female. You should be fine with that size aquarium, but only if she's the only Gourami in there.
    A severe lack of trichogaster.

Just because your Gourami is sick does not mean it is always Iridovirus, DGIV, Gourami Disease, et cetera.
Look at all the other factors in your tank before coming to this conclusion.

I've been feeding him/ her pellets once a day. I put her in a hospital tank just in case, and I haven't fed her in 2 days as that was my initial thought too. I'm trying peas today.

Yeah looks like she's bloated, definitely a female too btw, just feed her some peas. Add some brine shrimp and other foods to her diet. Occasionally drop a pleco algae wafer. My Blue gourami loves them XD She's almost 7 years old and looks like yours, just not bloated and much larger. Don't worry about tank size, your gourami should still be the only one in there but yours ca live in a 20 gallon happily. My Blue Gourami is only about 4 inches long.

Thanks for the info guys. I was a little worried for a bit there. She still hasn't slimmed down as of yet but I'm hopeful. Ill keep her quarantined as a precaution just in case though. It's strange that she only blew up on one side though.
