I've seen them at the LFS here, and they were really beautiful, even in thier less-than-ideal state. I did some research on them, and they are one of the larger tetras that can take some pH variance. That might be wrong; my research was quick.

The only reason I got the black skirts instead of these is because my husband saw the lemons "fighting" with each other in the LFS tank, and vetoed my choice. Little did he know that the skirts would do the same, if not worse!

That they can co-exist with Discus and optain that beutiful yellow hue shows how much they prefer lower Ph and soft water. The awesome pictures made me think I will change my mind for the 10th time when I order my next group of fish, LOL.
Thanks for the awesome pic 3dees. I've never seen them that yellow but now that I've discovered the benifits of Peat Moss perhaps I can achieve the same water conditions in my tank that will bring out that awesome color. Thanks for sharing.

Bethymt, that dealer might have actully had the right water parameters and the Lemons you observed were going thru their mateing ritual. Black Skirts to me have always been rambunctius fish, one of the reasons I've never kept them after obsrerving thier behavior in friends tanks. Now having said that; it IMO because you will find alot of people who feel different about them.

Has anybody kept Lemons and Red Phantoms together? I thought that might make a good combo.

This is one of the few tetras that looks good in an albino form.

I agree with steeler1. This is not really a "beginners fish". It all depends on the person but if you haven't done your research it's not like keeping a goldfish. Little bit more involved
