  1. Default Hi, Can i add more fish to my 33 gallon tank?

Hi i am new to this so wasn't to sure if this is the right place to ask this but anyway, i have a 33 gallon tank and have 1 x bristlenose pleco, 7 cardinal tetras's and 4 male guppies and was wondering if i could get 8 more cardinal tetras and 6 more male guppies.

I have heard that the 1 inch of fish per gallon rule isnt that accurate so will 1 x bristlenose pleco, 15 cardinal tetras and 10 male guppies be ok in the tank?

    Thanks :)

With good filtration and a good maintenance schedule (water changes and filter cleaning) that stocking should be fine. It is smart sticking to only male guppies so your tank does not become overrun with fry.

I think increasing the tetra's would be good and they don't create much waste so you should be ok. Maybe hold off on more guppies. Or... add only 5more tetras and 3 more guppies.

+1 tiffykubi, Guppies make more waste than people realize.

wouldn't add that much guppies, maybe only 3-4 more. I would add more cardinals instead and make it a big school around 20 maybe.

I agree with the post above this one. More cardinals and less guppies. Or no guppies at all and something like a Harlequin rasbora in a school.

Thanks for the replies, so more cardinal tetras than guppies is a better idea? In that case does 1 x bristlenose pleco, 20 cardinal tetras and 7 guppies sound like a good amount for my 33 gallon tank?

    Thanks :)

Oh yeah, Cardinals are the bomb and they will realy like being kept in that large a school.

ok so 1 x bristlenose pleco, 20 x cardinal tetras and 7 x male guppies is good to keep in a 33 gallon tank?
