Thread: Acclimating GBRs

Why did I think the GBR's would be coming tomorrow? Did I read this in my sleep. LOL Just wait for your QT to cycle. It's not like they will be extinct in two weeks.
I'm on the fence regarding buying from breeders and buying from stores. I've seen well maintained tanks at stores and some awful looking tanks at breeders, as well. We see what's in the store and can't see how the breeder keeps them so personally it's a crap shoot for me.
You should keep a small sponge filter running on your main tank so it's always ready when you want to use the QT.
And now for my 4th cup of coffee! Apparently one didn't do it.

lol, 1 cup never does it Lady Hobbs. ;P
I think a sponge filter is a good idea. I'll pick one up and get one started in my 75gal.
You make a good point about breeders vs pet shops, too. Sometimes it's just a crap shoot, I guess - it could go either way for both.
For now, given how delicate GBRs are, I think I'll wait. I was thinking that with a pair of Apistos in the tank, I should probably introduce both species at the same time, so they can establish their own territories at once. I guess it shouldn't really matter, though. There are enough hiding places/shelters.
Thanks everyone, really appreciate the feedback!

"This ain't rocket science!"
