Nice. A veiltail?
This is Sigma, our newest betta boy. He is in a temp QT right now, but he has a new 10g home we are setting up right now. He's a dragon scale veil so he should get to be pretty big. I didn't like his color at first, my wife and kids did, but after looking at him for a few days he is beautiful. Unfortunately the little punk doesn't stay still long enough for a decent pic.

Cool Betta!
I'm not sure what kind ours is. The cup that he was in just said male Betta. He is now in a 15 gallon Aqueon Column tank. It came with a Quietflow filter but I don't now what it is rated. I gutted it and filled it with biomax from one of my Aquaclear 50s from my 36 gallon. I think it will be ok for one fish.

Oh yeah with extra seeded media I'm sure you are fine.
Yeah I asked what he was before you put the pic up. He is deff a veiltail and he MIGHT be a dragon scale, but I can't tell from the pic. Veiltails are the ones that have the classic flowing tail, and dragon scale is just a slightly bigger variety with larger scales.
Your boy has an interesting color fade from the blue to the purple and into that almost rusty red. It's cool looking.
We have a breeding pair of wild imbellis betta coming special order to our LFS. They are pretty cool looking. Check this out.

After reading about the filter that came with the tank I am not impressed. I went with my gut feeling and replaced it with an Aquaclear 50 with double media.
I should have plenty of filtration now.
