"O" no...
Man is this messed up.
http://bettasaigon.org/imgs/Post/tan...tta-medium.jpg
That's enough to make even me feel claustrophobic. I'm sitting here trying to imagine how the poor things would even swim. Just up and down in a tube so tight it rubs their pectoral fins. There is absolutely zero horizontal space there. Just around, and around, and around, and around a.d aro.n. a.. a.ou.. .n. ....u.d ... ......
People might as well just start encasing their betta in acrylic. That way they would have practically the same amount of space to move around (ie: none), they wouldn't have to do any water changes, AND they could use them to weigh down important documents...
Ok sorry, I'm done ranting now.Last edited by Nephalem; 10-10-2012 at 04:15 PM.

Isn't that just great. People must think with the wrong end of them because they sure don't use their brains.

That's pretty damn sad. ;/ I wonder how this myth that Bettas live in "puddles" actually came about. Hell... a puddle would probably be a welcome habitat in comparison to that "O."

The myth came about because of translation and understanding errors. Yes they do fight for space so viciously because sometimes space is limited during part of the year. And yeah during that same part of the year the water can dry up enough if it's been a dry year that they need to be able to breathe air. But it isn't puddles as we think about them. It's rice paddy puddles which it you have seen them are freaking huge and usually stairstep down whole mountains. That's how they can get from "puddle" to "puddle". It's a veritable ocean of shallowish (2-3ft or so) water.
